Is that Windows Mobile 6.5 RC in the Wilds?
There’s been heated discussion over at PPCGeeks forums about a new Windows Mobile 6.5 Operating System core. Conflipper, a member of the forums posted yesterday:
6.5 official is out.
this will be the first officail new core.
21501 aku 6.5.70 core. memory contorl, and system response speed are improved and everything.
With Windows Mobile 6.5 launching a little early this year on May 11 [electronista] it makes good timing for an RC to be around.. and leaked!
While not much has been said about what was changed in RC, but already it’s been confirmed that the particular leak has Windows Mobile Marketplace (SkyMarket) and Microsoft MyPhone (SkyBox) applications that was announced earlier at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, shipped along with it.
Already, the developer community at PPCGeeks and XDA have been having fun plugging away at the latest leak, and so far this version of Windows Mobile 6.5 have been ported to a number of HTC devices like the Touch, Touch Pro, Diamond and the TyTN II.
If the general developer community have shown that even older devices can run Windows Mobile 6.5, it’d be interesting to see if the manufacturers will actually push out an upgrade to these devices just like when Windows Mobile 6.0 was upgraded to 6.1.
Edit: Hmm forgot to also mention Outlook Live (SkyLine)!
