Thanks for the compliments - it was all a bit of fun while trying to get something to work.

I also find it difficult to dedicate time to make a post, which explains there're not many posts in a given month. But at the same time, I try to make sure that I only make a post if it's worth posting about.

Aw, this was a genuinely quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this as well - getting time and true effort to create a great write-up..
. but what can I say..
. I procrastinate alot and never appear to get something carried out.

I used to own the same exact model of this laptop. Stated at 1.7Ghz but the motherboard chipset only lets it run at 1.3 Ghz as stated in this article.
It passed away a few months ago. Replaced with a new Toshiba.

That processor should work.

But I wouldn't recommend upgrading this laptop given today's laptop prices. It'd be much cheaper to buy a new laptop rather than to buy a CPU upgrade. Unless, of course, if you're doing it for fun.

Hello Edmund, unfortunately I bought this same laptop however am happy with its performance after ram and h/d upgrade. Interesting read about the cpu upgrade, can you advise if this cpu will work?
